Helping those after Thanksgiving.
Raising awareness.
Forgotten.
In developing nations, many children, once grown, leave their hometowns to start a ‘better’ life. However, in doing so, many forget where they’ve come from.
We won’t forget them.
Abandoned.
Following natural disasters, the public is keen to help and donate. Yet, in just weeks following the devastation, the public is quick to move on.
We won’t abandon them.
Supported.
No matter race, religion or background, our goal is to help.
We will support them.
We simply cannot let the sun go down on these people without them being able to think that it was all worthwhile - after all, they have footprints in the sand as well.
Who are we
The WHAT Foundation was founded around a Thanksgiving dinner. During the middle of grace, a thought came to mind, ‘but what happens after thanksgiving?’ From that point on, the mission was set. The Foundation would be to help those who fell from the public radar as soon as the media found a new topic. Or those where the individual’s very family have forgotten their roots, focused on their new life and not what came before. These are individuals who are too often left out of the spotlight. They are too often forgotten by those who should care for them. They are neglected and abandoned as soon as there is a new event to shift the focus to.
But no matter what, they will be our focus. The subject of our attention. The base of our support.
One of the original inspirations for the Foundation was when one of our founders was visiting Vietnam.
It was a Tuesday morning and he came across a boy fishing in a steam. He thought to himself, ‘why isn’t he in school?’ The reason turned out to be because he was trying to catch food for his family.
The need for the Foundation was only confirmed when the Vietnam Floods hit in 2019. Most of the country was left destroyed and many were left without a home. One of our strongest initiatives has been to help the victims of the floods.
